Where is the University of Michigan located?
The University of Michigan is located in Ann Arbor, 45 minutes outside of Detroit. Located in southeast Michigan's Lower Peninsula at the centre of a greater collection of communities in Washtenaw County, Ann Arbor is the epitome of a college town. In 2019 Forbes rated it as the 7th Best College Town in the United States of America.
Vibrant and bustling, it's where creative ideas come to life through world-class arts and culture, music, events, restaurants and shops. Fine dining, cultural dynamism, luminous art, and world-class attractions are all staples of this vibrant, cosmopolitan city.
But Ann Arbor is also home to one of the most highly rated public universities in America, meaning it’s a town where ambitious students and champion athletes reach for the stars.
The entire town transforms into an endless sea of maize and blue for the major collegiate sporting events. The town’s long history and the university are closely intertwined, so it’s no surprise that Ann Arbor has fully embraced the ‘Wolverine’ culture. Despite becoming a tech hub, a cultural melting pot and an urban oasis, Ann Arbor, founded in 1824, has still managed to retain much of its small-town charm.
