It’s home to many famous landmarks such as the homes of The Beatles members, The Liver Buildings, and the historic docks – all of which will become familiar sights if you choose to study in the city.
The city also values friendship. Liverpool is one of the friendliest cities in the UK and the third best to visit worldwide according to the Rough Guides guidebooks. Whether the local people are helping you find your way around the city, or just having a chat, the Scousers, as they’re affectionately called, will make your time in the city a memorable one.

A huge part of Liverpool’s worldwide fame is thanks to its football. Liverpool is proud of its undying love for the sport. It’s home to one of football's most famous rivalries, the Merseyside Derby between Liverpool and Everton, two storied clubs in the English Premier League. A city of culture
Liverpool is a cultural hotspot. Outside of London, it has more museums and art galleries than any city in the UK. From the Tate Modern and its world-famous collection of modern art to the live music and performances of The East Village Arts Club and the RIBA award-winning theatre The Everyman, just to name a few, it has cultural interests to meet all needs.
Liverpool wears its culture proudly. This a city that turned it’s bombed-out church into a concert venue, and has a night specifically dedicated to wandering around and looking at various light installations throughout the city.

Student life in Liverpool
There are several things that make Liverpool a great city to study in. It’s laid-back, fun and affordable, and if you want to have a great party after a long week of studying, Liverpool is definitely the place for you.
Liverpool is an affordable city
One of the most important aspects of choosing a city to study in is its affordability. Liverpool is one of the most affordable cities in the UK. There are student discounts offered in most bars and clubs and if you happen to have to take a cab or bus to get there it won’t cost you much as taxis and buses are very affordable. Buses also run frequently so you won’t be stuck waiting for ages.
Free museums and student discounts
Many of Liverpool’s museums and art galleries can be entered for free by students including Tate Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery, Merseyside Maritime Museum, World Museum and the Museum of Liverpool. The Albert Docks, home to award-winning attractions like The Beatles Story and The International Slavery Museum, always has free events.

Great nightlife
Liverpool is known for its laid-back way of life but it comes alive at night. Its vibrant nightlife offers many choices for all tastes. There are bars galore from Concert Square all the way to the Cavern Quarter. If you're looking for a good student night out there’s somewhere to go for each day of the week.
There are many music venues where you can listen to some live music ranging from the most in-demand musicians to up-and-coming artists. If you prefer a less-than-typical night out experience, the warehouse scene in the Baltic Triangle provides several options. Alma de Cuba, a bar in a former church, as well as the multitude of secret bars like Berry and Rye and Ex-Directory also provide less-than-typical experiences.
A large part of Liverpool’s nightlife is centred around three main areas - the centre of town, Lark Lane and the Baltic Triangle, where you’ll find some of the best cocktails, live music, and general revelry.
However, Smithdown Road, whose junction with Penny Lane is the subject of the Beatles song "Penny Lane," is home to a large percentage of Liverpool's 60,000-plus university student population and is always brimming with energy. Here you can have fun with fellow students as well as some delightful local Scousers at the Evil Eye Burrito Shack and cheap pints at Brookhouse on Thursdays at the long-established student quarter.
Overall, Liverpool’s nightlife is student-friendly. Venues are easy to get to as the majority of the student bars are within walking distance of each other.
