Pros: Good location for a Christ Church student; close to Uni and the city centre. It's okay if you're a Kent student but buying the £270 bus pass is absolutely essential - about a 15-20 minute journey. Luckily the Kent buses are almost 24/7 so getting to and from uni early or late at night is relatively easy. Very modern and clean rooms. The communal space is designed nicely, rooms are pretty big. 24/7 security is nice Connecting to the Internet via Ethernet cable is perfect - fast speeds and has never cut out Cons: The WiFi is dreadful. Cuts out every 30-45 minutes. There's absolutely no phone service inside the building too (although, that applies to Canterbury as a whole - not just Palamon Court!) The corridors often stink of weed, and occasionally other not-so-pleasant smells The windows and walls are very soundproof, however I have heard some very loud music at around 2-3 am, with security seeming to do nothing about it. Although the staff are, for the most part, helpful and friendly, there are times I have been incredibly surprised at some of the emails being sent out to all residents, and a lack of professionalism Two that spring to mind include a very threatening email titled "breaches to your tenancy agreement - read immediately" with the contents of the email implying I, myself, have breached the agreement and was at risk. In reality, it was sent to all students after a small number failed their room inspection. Unprofessional in my opinion. Secondly, we were recently informed that as of right now, security no longer have access to people's rooms should they look themselves out, and management will charge for people to be let in. It seems ridiculous to start fining students half way through their lease with NO advance notice given. Also concerns me security don't have emergency access to rooms if needed. Personally, I wouldn't stay here again. It is a nice place to live, but no chance is it worth almost £9k a year for a studio.

Very near to the city center. Beautiful building. Has lifts and stairs. Quite easy to learn how to find a room. A beautiful view from the 2-3 floor. Nice rooms where you have your own shower-room and a mini kitchen. Comfortable area where to sit and chat with your neighbours near reception desk. However, there are some disadvantages. Some students behave badly by being too loud inside the building and in the outdoors. Loud noises, shouting and giggling can be heard in the evening and at night. But generally Palamon Court is not a bad accommodation.

Palamon Court is a beautiful building very modern and easy to adjust to. However, the staff are awful, they are always sending threatening emails and are beyond unprofessional. I do not feel as though I can approach them as they are not friendly at all and always have a stuck up look on their face. Also, since they view us solely as students they treat us as though we are smaller than them rather than a paying tenant. Majority of the emails you will receive will be negative and threatening and will always involve trying to charge you for a new issue each time. For example, charging students for keeping a hoover for too long and if you leave your key card in your room you will be charged for a temporary key. The amount of money you are paying yet they will try to scrape out every last penny from a student, disgusting. If you are on a 44 week tenancy and returning after the summer they will make you remove all your belongings so they can let your room for another few weeks and will also not give you the opportunity to remain in the room you were previously at. There has been non stop maintenance work and a numerous of occasions where the water has been cut of for hours in the morning. There are foul smells in the corridors and if you are staying on one side of the building which does not have the bin room it makes life very difficult to transfer your rubbish over to the other site. The wifi is very poor and there is absolutely no signal in this building whatsoever! Location wise is perfect you are right next to the city centre and a quick walk to your local supermarkets, universities are also not too far. The building is very clean and you will always find cleaners on duty ensuring everything is always tidy. Another downfall is there is no parking and the nearest car park will cost you an additional £80 a month!
