Take a bracing walk from your student accommodation to Holyrood Park and climb to Arthur’s Seat for breathtaking views. Head into the city to explore a labyrinth of laneways and stone staircases in the Old Town, pausing for coffee at Artisan Coffee. Walk the Royal Mile, sampling a wee dram of whiskey en route. Shop big brands on Princes Street, or boutiques in the back streets. Catch your breath in Princess Street Gardens below the walls of Edinburgh Castle then spend evenings in the city’s lively pubs, bars and restaurants, like Grassmarket favourites, Beehive Inn or The Last Drop.

With a bus stop a minute’s walk from your door, you can be at classes at University of Edinburgh in around 20 minutes. Take the bus, or cycle into the city centre to hit the shops, see the sights or go out on the town. There’s a bike store where you can keep your wheels when you’re at home. Right by your home you’ll find a large supermarket where you can pick up essentials, and the restaurants and cafés of New Town are a short hop away by bus.

You can have total privacy and the peace you need to get on with your studies in a self-contained studio apartment. Clever design means the space is well laid out with built-in shelving and storage as well as a neat and tidy study area. Use the kitchen’s hob, microwave or kettle to make a cuppa or breakfast, munching at the breakfast bar or relaxing on the sofa watching TV before the day gets going.

Opt for a shared apartment if you want to keep costs down. Whichever you choose you’ll have your own ensuite bathroom. Don’t worry about racking up expensive bills as your rent includes utilities as well as contents insurance and superfast internet, which you can connect to via Wi-Fi. 

Don’t feel you have to stay in your room as there’s a games room and lounge to socialise in and meet new friends. When the laundry pile is getting out of control, use the onsite laundry to clean your clothes. You won’t need to worry about security with CCTV throughout.
