Use your student discount to treat yourself to a new outfit at open-air shopping centre Orchard Square, which is packed with your favourite big name stores. Learn more about Sheffield’s famous steel industry at the Millennium Gallery, then spend the afternoon sunbathing by the fountains in the nearby Peace Gardens. In the evening, head to The Wick at Both Ends for roast dinner and craft beer with your friends, before catching your favourite band at alternative venue the O2 Academy.

From your fully furnished apartment at Sharman Court, it’s a quick walk across the road to the University of Sheffield, and a 13-minute walk to Sheffield Hallam University. On weekends, wander four minutes to your closest bus stop (or it’s a six-minute walk to the City Hall supertram) and explore the rest of the city.

In the afternoon, come home to Sharman Court, hang your coat in the cupboard, then kick back on your comfy double bed. Use the free Wi-Fi to upload new photos to Facebook, or head to the common room for a bit of company. Challenge your friends to a game of pool, unwind in front of the TV, or get some work done in the study area. If you need peace and quiet to concentrate, spread your books out at your bedroom desk instead.

When you’ve caught up with your university work, soak up the last of the sunshine in the landscaped courtyard, then de-stress with a hot shower in your ensuite bathroom. In the evening, take a six-minute stroll to your local supermarket to stock up on ingredients for dinner. Eat with your friends around the kitchen table, then enjoy one of the regular residents’ events, or get ready for an outing to Fagan’s — a traditional English pub with live music sessions and great real ales.
