Frequently asked questions about student housing in Houston
How do I apply for a student room in Houston?
First, you don’t have to worry about costs using our helpful services. Student.com does not charge you anything for this service: you’ll only need to pay the rent to the property you end up selecting.
Applying for student rooms with Student.com is very simple. First you can click “view rooms” on a property you are interested in. After this, click “Enquire” to create an account and you will have a booking consultant reach out to you shortly to help you find the best option specifically for you. We will help you with all questions and make sure you are getting the best deal available.
What options are there for contract length?
Some properties built for student housing may have a 12-month minimum, but the majority of our rooms can be leased for 6 months or more. The longer the lease term, the lower your monthly rental rates will be. Enquire on our site and we will work to find the best option for you!
I can see you offer different types of student rooms. What do these room types mean?
We offer three different types of rooms. In a Shared Room you’ll share your bedroom with a roommate. In a Private Room you’ll get a private bedroom and share other facilities. If you book the Entire Place, you’ll get a private bedroom, bathroom and cooking facilities.
The rooms in shared apartments are typically more affordable and the properties can help you with finding roommates.
Are bills included in my rent?
It varies according to the property! In most cases, bills are included in the total cost of our student residence, so you’ll only have to pay the rent and nothing else. However, make sure you check to see if this is the case with the property you choose.
Can I see a property before moving in?
Depending on the property, you will either be able to have an in person tour or a virtual tour. Enquire about the rooms and we will help get this set up for you.
What is a guarantor and will I need one?
A guarantor is a person who signs the rental contract with you and commits to paying your rent if you can’t. Usually this is a family member, but it can be anyone who will agree to guarantee your rent. Most properties want you to have a guarantor. If you are an international student and do not have a guarantor, most properties will still allow you to rent a room but they might ask for additional deposits and proof of enrollment, along with an I-20 form. Our booking consultants can help you get all of this sorted once you are ready to book.
