Where is Georgetown University located?
Georgetown University has four campuses in Washington DC, with the main one based in Georgetown in the northwest quadrant of the city. With lots of historic architecture and views overlooking the Potomac River, it’s as picturesque as university campuses come.
The university’s Medical Center forms a part of the main campus, while the Law Center is located in the East End and the School of Continuing Studies in Chinatown. The Georgetown University Transportation Shuttle (GUTS), a free shuttle bus available to students, connects the campuses together.
For most students, you’ll be spending most of your time in and around Georgetown – a historic neighborhood known for its colorful houses and cobblestone streets. It’s a great place to be based and also puts you within easy reach of the downtown area.

Owing to its excellent reputation, particularly in certain subjects, Georgetown can be very competitive. Acceptance rates in recent years have ranged from 10–15%, making it one of the most selective universities in the US.

Factoring in other costs like housing and living expenses, the annual cost rises to about $85,000 per year. Georgetown does offer several hundred scholarships each year, though, so it’s worth looking into these before you apply.
For international students, the same tuition fees apply, so costs will be the same as the ones outlined above. However, eligibility around funding is different for international students, so you may not have the same access to scholarships.
Best neighborhoods to live off campus at Georgetown University
An obvious choice for Georgetown University students looking to live off-campus is the area immediately surrounding the main campus: Georgetown. You couldn’t be in a more convenient location here and there are also lots of nice shops, cafes and restaurants.
Two other areas popular for off-campus housing are Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom. Both neighborhoods are adjacent to Georgetown and just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of downtown.
If you’re looking for something more affordable, you should definitely consider Navy Yard. It’s slightly further away from the main campus, however rental prices tend to be a lot cheaper and strong transport links make the journey straightforward.

What room types of student housing do you offer?
The apartments we list in DC fall into one of three room types:
Shared room – two or more people sleeping in separate beds in the same room. The living room, kitchen, and bathroom are all shared with other rooms.
Private room – additional facilities are also shared with other rooms, but you’ll have a private bedroom. In some properties, you can also have private rooms with a private bathroom.
Entire place – this is a fully self-contained property. This means you don’t have to share with anyone. Your bedroom, as well as living, cooking and bathing facilities, are exclusively for you.
What options are there for contract length?
Our properties listed in DC typically have a 10-12 month minimum stay. Depending on availability, the properties may make exceptions and offer shorter terms as well. The shorter the lease term, the higher your monthly rental rates will typically be. Check with our team and we will work to find the best option for you!
What bills are included in the rent?
This depends on the property you select, so check the property you are interested in. Many of the properties we list have at least some bills and amenities included.
Can you arrange a viewing for me?
If you’re in DC before you move in, we can arrange a viewing for you. We also offer virtual tours, and many of our listings have lots of photos, so even if you can’t see the property in person before moving in, you’ll still be able to get a good idea of what the place will be like.
Do I need a visa to study in the US?
