Frequently asked questions about student accommodation near the Queensland University of Technology
Why should I choose to live in private accommodation instead of university housing?
There are many reasons why choosing to live off-campus is a great choice. One important thing is, you’ll get to choose freely where you’ll live. At Student.com, we offer several accommodation options close to both the Gardens Point and Kelvin Grove campuses, but also in other parts of the city. Wherever in Brisbane you want to live, you can find housing on this page.
You’ll also get to choose your room type freely. You can choose to share your room with a roommate, but you can also choose to live in a private room or studio that is just for you.
Many purpose-built student accommodations (PBSAs), especially the larger ones, offer great amenities to their inhabitants. If you fancy an in-house gym right at your doorstep, a cinema room with a large screen for movie nights or a games room where you can have epic PlayStation battles with your new friends, living off-campus in a PBSA is a great choice.
How do I apply for student accommodation in Brisbane near QUT?
Applying for any housing is very easy on Student.com. First, you’ll have to choose your favourite property. Choosing is made easier by the many filters that you can use to find just the type of accommodation you like and by the map feature on this page, thanks to which you can search for properties in the specific area of Brisbane you’re interested in.
After making your choice, click ‘View rooms’ to go to the property page. There you’ll need to choose your preferred room type. After choosing the right type of room for you, click ‘Enquire’. What are the different room types you offer in your apartments?
On Student.com we offer three different types of rooms. Please note however, that not all the properties we list offer all three different rooms.
A Shared Room is, like the name suggests, a bedroom that you share with at least one other student. Other facilities like the bathroom are shared as well.
In a Private Room you’ll get your own bedroom just for yourself. Depending on the property, you may get a private bathroom as well, or have to share. Other facilities are shared with occupants of other rooms.
The Entire Place option will give you a fully self-contained studio apartment. You’ll have your own bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette for cooking meals. No need to share anything with anyone!
Do you offer student accommodation for both undergraduates and postgraduates?
Yes, as long as you’re a full-time student, you can live in any of the properties we list.
My friend and I are both going to QUT. Can we live together?
Yes. After you’ve completed your application, log into your account and go to the tab where it says ‘manage your preferences’. There you can add a note saying you’d like to live with your friend. Make sure your friend also does the same and adds a note saying they would like to live with you.
