History of BPP University
Established in 1992, BPP University takes its name from its founders Alan Brierley, Richard Price, and Charles Prior. In 1975, the trio set up Brierley Price Prior to train accountancy students.
In 2007, BPP was first granted degree-awarding powers, making history as the first privately owned company in the UK to do so.
BPP University College of Professional Studies was rebranded as BPP University after being granted the title of university in 2013.
Four years later, it earned the "Bronze" ranking in the government-backed Teaching Excellence Framework initiative.
In 2020, the Office for Students (OfS) new regulatory framework granted indefinite taught degree awarding powers (TDAP) to the university.
After launching a coaching professional apprenticeship in 2020, BPP and Grant Thornton LLP launched two data apprenticeship programmes for Grant Thornton and Mazars in 2021.
